Konmari: Clothes, shoes, jewelry

I've known about Konmari and her books for a while now, but it wasn't until I visited a dear friend in San Diego who had started her own version of the Konmari tidying journey that I decided I would at least attempt to start my own decluttering using Konmari methods. Though to be honest, the real reason it happened this weekend was due to a strained calf from soccer games on Friday that left me incapable of walking (I could shuffle around) on Saturday and Sunday.

I started with clothing as Konmari mandates, but within the clothing category actually really started with socks, instead of tops, because my socks and tights have been living in two freebie Victoria's Secret bags for years, and I have been itching to move them to the no-longer-spider-infested dresser I rescued from a Buy Nothing porch last fall.

I ended up parting with quite a few tights and stockings, although I kept most of my socks (even the unmatched and hole-y wool ones bring me joy since I can still use them and not have to buy new ones unnecessarily).

Andrew even joined in and chucked a bunch of his unloved winter/athletic gear into the growing pile. After socks I did shorts/pants, as those had already been pretty thoroughly weeded through a few months ago. Nonetheless, I still found a few pairs of shorts to discard.

The next day I went through my shirts, sweaters, dresses, underthings, costume clothing, skirts, and jewelry. I have not made it to bags, shoes, or scarves.

Here is the shirt/blouse/athletic top aftermath:

The giveaway jewelry that did not bring me joy are pictured below. These went to a neighbor via the Buy Nothing Project.

Did shoes and books today. Got rid of 1 pair of only . Not even the freebie Niagara Falls tourist sandals. Those still entertain me. HAH, all my shoes are pretty much exercise related. Those darlings are with me until they die.

Got rid of 4 books, a binder of ukulele music, a notepad, and went through some of my papers (which should be done later on under true konmari, but I keep my papers on the same shelves as my books.
