I got a last-minute invitation+scholarship to join the 2017/18 cohort of the EMMPHID program. It was a harrowing choice for an indecisive person like me as to whether to join, since I really enjoyed my work and coworkers at my previous place of employment. In the end, I decided to go for it, as it may be the last time the program will be offered. as the European Council Erasmus+ grants operate on a five-year cycle, and the 2017/2018 school year is the fifth year of the cycle. While EMMPHID may be renewed next cycle, there no telling what it will look like then.
This cycle, all 20 participants attend lectures at the Universidad de Oviedo (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain) for the fall term (Sept-Dec) and then split into two tracks and continue on to either Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden) or Univerité catholique de Louvain (Brussels, Belgium). The UCL track specifically focuses on the epidemiologic aspects of disasters, so it seemed like a good fit.
