Etapa 10: Lugo - San Romao da Retorta, 19.7km
Another four-day weekend with the EMMPHID program. I hesitated about whether to continue the camino primitivo where I left off or skip to the last four days. After discussing with my roommate, I decided to skip to (four days from) the end. When I arrived at the albergue I heard some fellow pilgrims mentioning they had to take a taxi detour to get around the wildfires in the part of the camino I had intended to hike! Thanks, roommate, for your excellent advice.
The day started with a bus from Oviedo to Lugo with the bus company ALSA. I started hiking and eventually ran into a Spanish couple who I began leapfrogging with. We met at a rest stop with an excellent bathroom and a coffee machine that produced coffee, but no cup (byebye, dear coffee). I paid twice hoping there would be a cup the second time. No such luck, so I left a post-it on the machine letting future hikers know about the problem.
The last time I met the couple was at the albergue. They didn't stay the night but instead continued to Ferreira, saying they wanted to get to Melide early the next day. Goodbye, nice couple!
