Etapa 12: Melide to O Pedrouzo, 33 km
Today I walked from Melide to O Pedrouzo. I had an awful hangover. The private albergue turned us out at 9am, but a kind gentleman at the breakfast bar allowed me to linger a little longer at the breakfast table as I struggled to get down my bread and coffee. Randomly, I met the friends from last night from the Canary Islands in the breakfast room, even though they had stayed the night at the public albergue. We stayed together in the public albergue in San Romao de Retorta.
During the hike I saw lots of pretty things. It was rough to walk 33km with hangover (that didn't disappear until the last 10km or so), but I was entertained by the group texts, having been added to their CSP (Camino Santiago Primitivo) WhatsApp group the night before. I met O as he waited for friends at a lunch stop, but had just eaten a tortilla so after waiting with him until the others arrived, I went in search of chocolate con churros.
I met up with most of the group at another cafe later on. We were all running so late we ended up walking the last 5 or so km in the dark. Glad I brought my headlamp!

Note: I used WikiLoc to track my trail, with MyTracks (deprecated Google app) for backup. I like WikiLoc because you can broadcast your location. I have a Gmail account dedicated to letting people know where I am "just in case." People who might notice if I go missing have the login and password. I typically send airline tickets, bus tickets, trail maps, etc. to the account.
