Starting/ending point: Brussels
Transportation: BlaBlaCar

February in Europe means carnaval. What exactly is carnaval? I'm still not really sure, but it involves people dressing up in costumes, parades, and copious amounts of drinking. The city best known for its carnaval celebrations is Cologne (Köln), Germany, which happens to be a reasonable day trip away from Brussels.

Bus transportation turned out to be infeasible, and rail was too expensive as we were booking last minute, so we turned to BlaBlaCar, which worked out well for us. It is a 2.5 hour drive from Brussels to Cologne. We spent about 6 hours in the city--about right for the weather, which was alternatingly cloudy, hailing, raining, and windy. We came, we saw carnaval, we left. It was a good day.

Currywurst at a restaurant even the Germans with us said was "overly German" for them.
